Seam by Second Growth

Second Growth is seven artists (Tonia Arehart, Kite Arner, Lalitha Bandaru, Lindsey Champlin, Sam Kuniholm, Matt Soma and Joe Wilkinson) working collaboratively to discover new ways of making by learning from the distinctly individual approaches each other's creative process. Seam was created through a process of exploring the intersection of these divergent perspectives and it is as much as this as the completed installation.

Value of earth's natural life and our relationship with place are common threads through each of the practices which have primarily informed the material choice. In the installation, discarded consumer grade recyclable plastics were knit together with seemingly endless thread of steel to make Seam's swaying landscape.
